Martin Berg volunteered to help the Asociacion Armonia Palkachupa Conservation Program in 2011. Part of his work was to study the avifauna of the area. Below is his bird list.

Totally six observations of this rare and range restricted species. Where most often found in small flocks of 2-4 birds in the open savannah with scattered trees and bushes along the road that runs along the ridge top 2-4 km south of Aten. Where also seen twice in mixed species flocks in the forest fragments close to Aten. The observation of a green-capped tanager made by me in the Yungas forest close to Pata suggests that it may occur there as well.
